What is cbd?
Hemp is within the cannabis family, on the sativa side and known as a cousin plant to marijuana. CBD (Cannabidiol oil) is obtained from the flower and leaves on the hemp plant and is a natural botanical concentrated compound with many uses. To date, 118 cannabinoids have been identified in the hemp plant, with CBD being the most prominent. This is a major difference from the marijuana plant because the most common cannabinoid in marijuana is (THC) tetrahydrocannabinol, which gives off a psychoactive effect known as a “high”. The hemp we cultivate is compliant with the 2014 and 2018 Farm Bills and contains less than 0.3% THC. Therefore it doesn’t allow for a psychoactive effect and has become appealing to many.
CBD oil is extracted through different methods. We use the method of food-grade ethanol when extracting here at Freedom CBD. This clean process yields high quality, concentrated, pure CBD oil and also contains other beneficial compounds such as (CBN) cannabinol, (CBCV) cannabidivarin, and the up and coming, very popular compound called (CBG) cannabigerol. Terpenes provide flavor and aroma to the oils, other nutrients like vitamins, amino acids and even your omega-3 and omega- 6 are derived from the plant.
CBD oil can be consumed as a nutritional supplement by oral/sublingual ingestion through means of tincture drops, capsules, edibles, or through topical means by application to the skin where the cannabinoids make their way into our bloodstream and bind to CB1 and CB2 receptor sites within our bodies.
Over the years, significant advancements have been made in regards to hemp oil product lines. This consists of all kinds of cosmetic, beverage and nutrition products, yet that is just the beginning. As the industry progresses and we come to further understand what products hemp can be synergized with to produce beneficial results, we will advance our production processes and methodologies to continue to be at the forefront of the extraction industry.
In short, CBD oil effects neurotransmitters and many have given testimonials about how it has helped with the symptoms related to mood, pain, relaxation, how it relieves symptoms of anxiety, chronic pain, nausea, inflammation, insomnia and more. The reason why CBD is becoming so popular is because it contains minimal to no traces of the THC compound.
