General Questions

What is CBD?

CBD is one of many cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. It works with your body’s CB2 receptors.  CB2 receptors are involved with inflammation, chronic and acute pain and many other diseases.  Read our CBD 101 article for more information.

What is the difference between the hemp and marijuana plant?

Both hemp and marijuana come from the cannabis plant.  Hemp is higher in CBD content and lower in THC and marijuana is higher in THC and lower in CBD.  For more information check out the Hemp School Podcast episode on the topic.

Will CBD get me high?

In short, no.  CBD is not psychoactive and will not get you high.  However, several hemp-derived CBD products contain 0.3% THC or below, which is federally legal in the US.  In that case, you may notice a “high effect” depending on the dosing you take.

Is CBD legal?

Because of the 2018 Farm Bill, CBD products containing 0.3% THC and below are federally legal.  This being said, several states have their own CBD regulations.  So it’s always important to check with your individual state laws.  As a general rule of thumb, if recreation or medical cannabis use is legal, then CBD is likely legal as well.

Will I test positive for THC on a drug test?

All our products are third-party lab tested.  For our Broad Spectrum Distillate, it comes back as LOQ which means it is undetectable by their tests. That being said, different tests have varying levels of sensitivity. Depending on the lab, you may test positive for trace amounts of THC.

What is the difference between Full Spectrum Distillate and Broad Spectrum Distillate oil.

Full Spectrum Distillate CBD oil contains a wide range of cannabinoids in addition to the CBD.  This can include CBG, CBN, etc. It also includes some THC, 0.3% or below.  Most people will not experience a “high” from the THC as the dose is so low.

Broad Spectrum Distillate CBD oil is the same as Full Spectrum Distillate except that it has gone through an additional refining process.  This removes the THC and reduces or removes other cannabinoids that you might find in Full Spectrum Distillate.  The Freedom CBD exclusive extraction and refinement process keeps the terpene profile robust as well as a full profile of flavanoids and cannabinoids to create a superior product.

How much should I take?

We recommend 1 oz per day to start.  This can be taken all at once or over the course of the day.

For quickest results, put it under your tongue and hold for 60 sec, then swallow.

Why do you use ethanol instead of CO2 for extraction?

Ethanol is a much more efficient method for extraction. The FDA also considers it a Class 3 solvent which means it has relatively low toxic risks.
