How quickly will it take for me to notice the effects of CBD? We get asked this all the time. The other question we get asked is how much should we take and how do we know when the dosing is right for us. Maybe you’ve been using CBD products for a few days and it’s not quite working for you or maybe it’s working right away and you don’t know if you should increase your dosing.
Remember every body is different. Everyone’s results will be different. This is a guide to help you in your CBD journey but make sure you are listening to your body. Soon CBD will become part of your regular routine and you’ll start to see consistent results. Be patient with it and always reach out to us if you have any questions.
How to begin with CBD
We can’t stress enough that consistency is important when working towards long term effects. You might notice changes immediately or it might take a few weeks. Be patient and keep with it.
With our tinctures, we recommend starting with one full dropper per day for adults. This can be taken all at once or split up in the morning and evening. Most of our tinctures have 55 mg in each dropper. The only exception is our Full Spectrum higher dose tincture that has 125 mg per dropper.
With any tincture, you’ll want to check the label to determine the amount of CBD, THC, etc in each dose. Since there isn’t really a standard this can be confusing.
On our labels, we share the total CBD content on the front. Then on the back, we break down how much of each cannabinoid is in each dropper. This includes THC as well as secondary cannabinoids like CBG or CBC. Because there isn’t a standard for what has to be on labels it can vary from brand to brand. Make sure you know exactly what dose you’re taking and what that brand’s recommended dosing is. This will be important as you start to increase your dose or so you know exactly what your sweet spot is.
Figuring out your routine will also be helpful. What will work best with your daily routine? Is it best to take it in the morning with your coffee? Or keep it by your bed so you don’t forget to take it at night? Maybe you enjoy having it at lunch with your tea? Either way, there is no wrong time or way to take CBD.
We always recommend taking the tincture sublingually (or under your tongue) and hold it there for 30-60 seconds. This is because it is the fastest way for the CBD to enter your bloodstream. However, because we use CBD distillate to make our tinctures instead of an isolate our tinctures do have an earthy smell and taste. Choosing a flavored product can help with that, or adding it to your favorite beverage can be great too.

How long till I feel the effects of CBD?
This is a tricky question as each person will see results at different times. We all have an endocannabinoid system (ECS) which CBD engages with when we take it. Your ECS’s main function is to maintain your body’s homeostasis. It is also involved in many functions within your nervous system, endocrine and immune systems.
Cannabinoids, which include CBD, work with your ECS to support your overall health and balance. Specifically your CB1 and CB2 receptors work with different cannabinoids to aid in different functions. Depending on the potency of the cannabinoids in your tincture you may notice different body responses more quickly. For example, products with higher CBG content have been shown to aid in inflammation. And product with a wider variety of cannabinoids may help overall more than a product that is isolate based because of the entourage effect.
How much should I take and when do I increase dosing?
As mentioned earlier, we recommend starting with one full dropper per day. Depending on the product you’re using, make sure you take a look at the recommended dosing. Our health is going to differ from person to person. Someone that is much healthier might be able to take a smaller dose and feel the effects more quickly. If you’re dealing with a lot of health concerns you may need to increase (or titrate) your dosing over time to find that sweet spot and it may be a longer period of time before you find the exact results you’re looking for.
We recommend starting with the standard dosing and increasing every 3-4 days until you find that right dosing for you.
When will I know it’s working?
Remember to be patient. We know it’s hard and quick fixes would be great, but that’s just not always the case. Give it about 4-6 weeks before you give up. You can increase your dose every 3-4 days. Try taking it 3 times a day instead of 1-2. Make sure you’re being consistent and taking it daily.
Ultimately your body will let you know it’s working!
We can’t say this enough. If you don’t use it regularly then you won’t see the results you desire. Keeping a journal can help you remember what dosing your taking and when you’ve increased over time. Remember that CBD is part of your whole health routine. Tracking other things like water intake, how you’re feeling mentally that day, or the other medicines and supplements your taking can help you understand your whole health picture and what else might be affecting how you feel. Track it for four weeks and see how you’re feeling and make adjustments from there.
It’s also important to remember what you’re using CBD for and consider that in your routine. If you’re wanting help with sleep, then taking it at night is better. Maybe you’re using it for focus and clarity, then taking it in the morning would be best, or several times during the day. Whatever it is, consider your personal situation and make it custom for you.
Pay attention to quality and lab results
Not all CBD is created equal. Unfortunately, many companies claim they have a particular CBD content in their product but they don’t. This is where third-party testing comes into play. Check the lab test results to ensure that they match with what’s on the label. If the company you’re buying from doesn’t easily share their lab results that can be a red flag. If the quality of your product isn’t great then you won’t see results.
At the end of the day, you’ll want to remember consistency matters! Start there and give your body time. Time to allow your ECS to process the cannabinoids. Time to figure out the dosing. Time to figure out the routine that works best for you.
As always, reach out if you have questions or concerns regarding dosing and how CBD can make an impact on your life.
